GreenHorizon Goals
1. Build a Network of Self-Sustaining Eco Ark villages
Our goal is to establish national and global networks of self-sufficient communities based on permaculture principles, where local food production, waste treatment, renewable energy, and shared resources enable true independence from unsustainable systems. These villages will be built resilient and prepared for the challenges of climate change. These villages would never be larger than 150 people, anyone can start a new village with their friends acquaintances or people who share a mutual interest or lifestyle. All villages will be governed by resident consensus. GreenHorizon will make routine safeguarding checks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone in said villages.
2. Promote Education and Awareness
We aim to educate people of all ages about sustainable living practices, permaculture principles, and the importance of biodiversity. Through workshops, community events, and educational programs, we seek to inspire change at every level of society and for people to join our cause and way of life. We would also see an end to the factory schooling system, and replace it with much more bespoke and hands on learning and education.
3. Support the Transition to a Gift Economy
One of our core goals is to make the transition from a profit-driven system to a mutual aid-based gift economy, where people freely share resources, knowledge, and skills to ensure the well-being of all members of society. This would include things like free stores and tool libraries etc
5. Advocate for Environmental and Social Justice
We will actively campaign for policies that protect the environment and fight against social inequality. Whether through grassroots activism or partnerships with other organizations, GreenHorizon will push for systemic change.
6. Reduce Reliance on Fossil Fuels and Cars
We will create walkable and cyclable neighbourhoods and a reimagining of urban spaces to prioritise people and nature, with for example raised cycle and walkways, pocket parks and greenifying the streets. True freedom is having many different options of transport available, it's both better for the planet and our health.
7. Living by the Hippocratic Oath
GreenHorizon is a pacifist movement, we will never use nor endorse the use of violence. We believe the world would be a much better place if we all took the Hippocratic oath of doing no harm and applied to our everyday lives. We don't deny the violence people are facing from oppressive systems, but we can push back in ways that are still peaceful. We are a shield rather than sword.
8. Protect and Safeguard Vulnerable People
We want to create a world that is safe for for everyone but especially vulnerable people who are often overlooked. Children, the elderly and people with disabilities have the right to thrive and not live in fear of exploitation, coercion and abuse. In our world there will be rules and parameters ensuring their increased safety, autonomy and agency
9. A Meaningful Life
A truly meaningful and fulfilling human life is one of close loving community, creativity, love and self actualisation (reaching one's full potential). This is the kind of life we wish to facilitate for all. One where the meaningful and creative work is done by humans, not robots or artificial intelligence. We want society to remember that some things are sacred because they are authentic, beautiful and uniquely human. We champion the importance of art, music, storytelling, love, leisure and play. They are sacred and essential to our mental and physical health. By reconnecting with nature and reducing consumption, we can find joy, peace, and purpose.
10. New Materials
We wish to develop new sustainable building materials that are friendly to the earth and can weather the challange of climate change. Materials like that of hemp fabric and bioplastics as well as myco-brick building materials that are made of chitin, one of the strongest and lightest natural materials in the world which is also fire, water, mould and earthquake proof.
11. More Human Rights
We are of the firm belief that all humans have the right to have their basic needs met guaranteed for free. All food, water, housing, healthcare and education should be free and guaranteed, always. This creates a secure and healthy baseline for all people, which in turn makes society both safer, happier, healthier and makes people more capable of fulfilling their potential and doing great things we all benefit from.
